Welcome to Shunji Manabe's Home Page
Back Ground
Shunji Manabe was borne in 1930 at Tokyo.
His educational back ground is Electrical
Engineering. He received two years education
in USA. He worked in a large electrical and
electronics industrial firm for 38 years
since 1952. His work was related to control
system design of various industrial products
such as
Electric Motor Speed Control
Tracking RADAR Control
Flight Simulator
Industrial Plant Control
Spacecraft Attitude Control
Robotics
Since 1990, he has been teaching control
theory in a university.
Purpose of Home Page
He retired on 2000. After retirement, he
is planning to leave his experiences to younger generations and
also he wants to do some thing to leave better
society for coming generations.
1. During his long experience in design
of control systems, he come out to an effective
control design theory named as "Coefficient
Diagram Method (CDM). CDM is design theory,
not analysis theory, and very good control
system can be designed without much design
experiences. Field adjustment is very easy.
2. In controller design, the hardware
and software realization problem is also
important. In order to achieve reliable
and cost effective real time controller,
some modification of the presently available
OS and hardware structure seems to be necessary.
3. In order to realize human-friendly
robot, actuator must be improved. Electric
motors are much inferior to human muscle
in weight, power, and flexibility. The
internal combustion engines used in cars
give too much burden to the environment.
In animal muscle , the chemical
energy is directly converted to dynamical
energy without going through heat and it
is more efficient.
Request to Home Page Readers
Manabe would be very happy, if he would have
responses from readers to the above 3 problems,
namely,
Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM)
Real Time Control
Muscle Engine
